Cephalic and Facial Indices Among Kosovo-Albanian Population International Journal of Morphology
Staka,Gloria; Disha,Metush; Dragidella,Fatmir.
Cephalic and facial indices are used to estimate the racial and sex differences. This study was carried out to establish standards for craniofacial variables and distribution of cephalic and facial indices in Kosovo - Albanian population. The study population consisted of 204 dental students (101 males and 103 females, aged 18 to 30). Four basic craniofacial variables (head length, head breadth, morphological face height and face breadth) were measured to obtained cephalic and facial indices. All measured craniofacial variables are considerably higher in males than in females (p<0.0001). In the Kosovo Albanian population brachycephalic type of head (44.61 %) and hyperleptoprosopic type of face (63.34%) prevail.

Cephalic Index of Ogbia Tribe of Bayesla State International Journal of Morphology
Eroje,M. A; Fawehinmi,H. B; Jaja,B. N; Yaakor,L.
A study on Cephalic Index was carried out on subjects from Ogbia tribe of Bayelsa State in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Four hundred and fourty individuals were randomly selected from the community comprising of 219 males and 221 females respectively. The ages of the subjects ranged from 2-18 years. The length and breadth of the head was measured using a sliding caliper from standard bony landmarks. The measurable point for head length was measured between the glabella and opisthocranion while the head breadth was the widest biparietal diameter from euryon (eu) on one side of the head to euryon (eu), on the other side. Mean values of cephalic index, standard deviation and standard error of mean were calculated for both sexes. The result showed that...

Cephalofacial Morphological Characteristics of Albanian Kosova Population International Journal of Morphology
Rexhepi,Agron; Meka,Vjollca.
Although the human race must be regarded as a unit intellectually and physically, from the anthropologists' viewpoint the particular set of bones most often measured for purposes of racial classification are those of the head. The aim of the present work was to determine some relevant cephalofacial parameters, particularly in relation to sex and to study the distribution of basic head and face types of a Kosova Albanian population. The study sample comprised 754 subjects of both sex (561 male and 193 female) aged 18 to 35 from Kosova. Five basic cephalofacial variables were measured to obtain the head and face indexes. Statistically significant differences between two treated groups, according to sex, were found almost in all measured cephalofacial...

Cephalometry or skull measurement are used in pediatrics, forensic medicine, plastic surgery, oral surgery and diagnostic comprehension between patient and normal populations. Cephalic index is an important parameter for detecting the race and sex of an individual whose identity is unknown. The most important of cephalometric dimension are height and width of head which determine cephalic index. On the basis of cephalic index four head shapes are determined in international categories, that including dolichocephal, brachycephal, mesocephal and hyperbrachycephal. With noticing the lack of documented research about 14-18 years old girls and boys in this area, this study was planned for determining normal range of head shapes in 867girls and 960 boys in the...

Alves,H. A; Santos,M. I. M. P; Melo,F. C. L; Wellington,R.
Since the beginning of the century in various countries, investigations to determine the anthropometric characteristics of a population were carried out. The issue of miscegenation in Brazil is of great importance in this study to define a population representative data on the cranial anthropometry. The large size of Brazil, with 8.514.876 km2 leads to an investigation between the two extreme regions of the country: North and South, because of the ethnic composition of their colonizers. This study aims to investigate, compare and rank possible differences in cephalic index of the populations from these regions of Brazil. Therefore, an anthropometric study was performed at the School of Aeronautics Expert (single training center for graduates of Brazilian...
